About Us
In October of 2001, Blue Ridge Pathology in Kingsport and Inter-Mountain Pathology in Bristol joined forces to form Highlands Pathology Consultants, P.C. (HPC), uniting decades of leadership and diagnostic expertise. HPC provides comprehensive anatomic pathology, cytopathology, laboratory testing, and medical directorship services for physician offices, hospitals, and their patients across the region. Our full-service laboratory, located in Kingsport, is housed within Holston Valley Medical Center. The team includes six board-certified pathologists along with fifty staff members who primarily serve the Ballad Health facilities at Holston Valley Medical Center and Bristol Regional Medical Center. In addition, HPC services several of the small rural hospitals in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
The State of Tennessee licenses the laboratory as an independent clinical laboratory specializing in anatomic pathology services. Our laboratory is enrolled in the College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation Program and is licensed for interstate laboratory testing under the Department of Health and Human Services, Clinical Laboratories Improvement Act (CLIA). All of the pathologists are licensed, participating Medicare providers.
